BACKGROUND
Radiograph A was obtained in a 78-year-old man who underwent repeated thoracic surgical procedures during World War II. Radiograph B was obtained in an 82-year-old man who became ill after World War II and underwent thoracic surgical procedures.

Present-day thoracic surgeons do not perform the thoracic procedures performed in these patients.
